Day 199
Amos 3–5 | Matthew 16:13–28 | Psalm 84
⸻
Today, Talacey and I are driving four hours back to San Francisco. Again.
Another check-in. Another surgeon conversation. Another long day of traffic, questions, and quiet hoping.
It’s easy to think days like this don’t count.
I’m not producing. Not finishing anything. Not being productive.
Just sitting in a car, waiting for a doctor to tell me what’s next.
But then I read Amos 5—and God says something unexpected:
“Seek me and live… Seek good, and not evil, that you may live… Let justice roll down like waters…”
And Matthew 16—“Take up your cross and follow me.”
And Psalm 84—“Blessed are those whose strength is in you, in whose heart are the highways to Zion.”
Maybe faithfulness looks like more than just what we do.
Maybe it includes where we go.
And how we go.
And why.
If the highways in my heart are aimed toward Him—even this long road can be holy.
Not flashy.
Not productive.
Just obedient.
⸻
Lord, let this road be more than a trip. Let it be worship. Let the conversations I have today reflect Your grace. Let the outcome sit safely in Your hands. Let the miles matter—not because they accomplish much, but because they were spent with You. Amen.
