The Only Door That Matters

Day 75

Numbers 33-34 | John 10:1-21 | Psalm 32

There’s only one way in.

Jesus couldn’t have been clearer.

“Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.” (John 10:7)

Not a door. The door.

He doesn’t point to a path. He doesn’t hand out a key. He doesn’t offer multiple options.

There’s one door, one way, one Shepherd who leads to life.

And everything else?

It’s just thieves and robbers.

The Lies We Believe

Jesus warned about them.

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.” (John 10:10)

There have always been false ways in—ways that promise life but only bring destruction.

The way of self-righteousness: If I’m good enough, surely God will accept me.

The way of human effort: If I try harder, surely I’ll make it.

The way of comparison: If I’m better than most, surely that’s enough.

But Jesus doesn’t just guard the door—He walks through it to rescue His own.

Because the truth is, we could never climb in on our own.

The Shepherd Who Lays Down His Life

Jesus isn’t just the door. He’s the Good Shepherd.

He doesn’t drive His sheep from a distance—He leads them.

He doesn’t abandon them in danger—He lays down His life for them.

And that’s why there’s only one way in.

Not because we’ve earned it.

Not because we’ve figured it out.

Not because we’re good enough to make it through.

But because Jesus gave His life to bring us in.

Because the Shepherd became the sacrifice.

Where Am I Looking?

I keep coming back to this question.

Because I know how easy it is to look for another way in.

To try to control what’s ahead.

To force open a door that God hasn’t unlocked.

To grab at security in places that can never truly give it.

And right now, I feel it in my own life.

My job is ending. The transition is real.

And there are days I want clarity—days I feel the pull to force a door open myself.

But Jesus didn’t say: I’ll show you the door.

He said: I am the door.

And if I’m already in Him, then I don’t have to scramble to find another way forward.

The Only Door That Matters

I don’t know where I’ll land next.

But I know this:

I don’t have to fight for an entrance.

I don’t have to climb over a wall.

I don’t have to force my way through.

Because I’m already inside.

Jesus has brought me in.

And the One who laid down His life for me will lead me where I need to go.

Lord, keep my eyes on You. When I look for security in other places, remind me that You alone are my way, my truth, my life. I don’t need another door—I just need to follow You, my Shepherd. Amen.
